Visual Artist
Rosie Mitchell
About
Rosie Mitchell (b. 2002) is a visual artist based in Wicklow. She studied and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Visual Culture at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. Rosie’s practice revolves mainly around her childhood experiences and the act of recalling memories, attempting to understand the inner, mental space. She uses her childhood photos as inspiration and reference. Rosie is both a product of and a contributor to the ongoing shifts in trends within the art world, navigating the balance between tradition and innovation as her practice bridges traditional painting methods with the rise of digital technology. She uses oil paint to depict the fragmented way her memories present themselves and a digital application to edit and manipulate her reference images to bring her mental imagery to life.
